Letter to Employer

Employers are often unfamiliar with F-1 employment options like Optional Practical Training (OPT) and Curricular Practical Training (CPT). Employers might believe hiring an F-1 international student requires them to immediately sponsor the student for an H-1B visa, which is not the case. Students seeking OPT sponsorship might need to educate potential employers about their ability to obtain employment authorization with the help of our Global Support office and/or U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services.

Here is a letter you might find useful to give to potential employers at an interview. It explains in general terms the F-1 employment options.
